Properly Secured, Evenly Distributed – ASTAG Load Securing Training at Kuonen Logistics AG

ree

A full day of hands-on practice and aha moments: an experienced ASTAG instructor visited our team in Embrach to further hone the art of load securing on transporters and trailers. From dispatchers to professional drivers, every team member took part in the same intensive workshop — right where our vehicles are parked and loaded every day.

1 | Theory That Sticks

  • Understanding Physical Forces — braking, accelerating, and cornering immediately impact the cargo.

  • Axle Load and Weight Distribution — better control thanks to a properly loaded front axle.

  • Increasing Friction — anti-slip mats save straps and prevent cargo from sliding.

  • Form-Fit vs. Force-Fit — when side walls are enough and when lashing straps are a must.

2 | Practice That Holds

On our yard, we calculated, measured, and strapped:

  • Load Plan for transporter and trailer: evenly distributed weight, balanced across axles.

  • Choosing Straps & Pretension Force — correctly sized lashing equipment, plus edge protectors instead of “strap on sheet metal.”

  • Live Comparison — pallets secured by form-fit vs. steel parts secured by force-fit, directly on the vehicle.

  • 60-Second Check — a quick walk-around that detects 90% of securing mistakes before departure.

3 | The Result

  • A uniform standard for load securing on all tours, from e-commerce shuttles to special transports.

  • Less risk, fewer transport damages, and even more trust from our customers.

  • Our 2025 Internal Load Securing Manual implemented — now mandatory reading in every vehicle.
